How uniquifying differs from stripping metadata
Removing metadata does not touch the video itself: the frames stay identical down to the bit. To a platform that compares content rather than service fields, the clip is still the same recording.
Uniquifying works on the picture: it shifts and crops the frame, nudges the speed and adjusts the colour. That is a genuine rework of the video rather than a swap of service fields, so the file is rebuilt from scratch and the result differs from the source in more than name.
Three modes
The stronger the mode, the further the copy moves from the original — and the more the picture changes.
Soft
Minimal changes to frame and speed. The picture is all but indistinguishable from the source by eye.
Medium
A more noticeable crop and speed shift. A sensible compromise between difference and appearance.
Strong
The highest values available. Frame changes are visible when compared side by side with the original.

Yes, service fields are not carried into the copies: the video is rebuilt from scratch. If you do not need the picture changed and only want the metadata gone, use the cleaning tool — it is faster and leaves the image alone.
To change the picture the video has to be decoded and encoded again — repackaging the container is not enough here. That is why there are limits on clip length and on the resolution of the result.
Rebuilding a video always means compressing it again, so the result cannot match the original exactly. We keep the settings so that the difference does not stand out in normal viewing.
